Each of My Prints Are Only Available to Purchase for a Limited Time
Every month, I will be selecting a new organization or movement to give 10% of all print sales. For April I have chosen to support Sea and Soil a nonprofit local to San Diego CA. All benefits will be going directly to their current fundraiser to keep their farm going! Sea and Soil is a diverse community of ocean lovers + plant folk, building a New Earth centered in radical joy, fellowship, and equal access to nature + food. Their programs include education, immersing communities in the land, providing research to support regenerative farming instead of conventional, donating to those who experience food insecurity and feeding the community with their CSA boxes.
Our planet and the health of our communities requires global action to create accessible and quality health care to communities that have historically been disenfranchised. As a global community we are only as healthy as each individual and when one of us suffers we all suffer. Let’s come together to support our collective family now.
I chose the name Leucas for myself when I was deep in my career of marine biology. The scientific name for a Beluga whale is Delphinapterus leucas and this is my namesake, I used to dream of working with marine mammals and the love, play and joy that belugas exude was what I wanted to embody. My deep connection with the Earth and my understanding of marine science is a really big influencer of what shaped the foundations of my spiritual practice and Id say at times it saved my life. Leucas comes from the Latin word for light and little did I know this would point me to me dharma.
I had no idea I was to leave academia and study yoga and healing arts but when I found my life's purpose I went for it. There was no questioning that my passion for yoga, advocacy and cultivating communities around healing was my fate that was written for me many lifetimes ago. So I leaped.
Though I’ve left marine research, my connection to the land and understanding all the marvels of the universe runs deep. I’m grateful for the ways marine research led to me to connect with the Earth even to it’s very ends when I performed SCUBA research in Antarctica. To continue to pay homage to Mamma Earth I share these photos to inspire living in harmony with this magnificent planet.
